What it is good for

Use it while you are still deciding whether a pool suits your yard, and which kind. Catalogue photos show other people's gardens; this shows a pool next to your own house, fence and trees. Try a Plunge pool and a Lap pool in a narrow yard, or compare Infinity with Natural on a sloping garden, then take the picture you like to a pool builder as a starting point. It also helps families weighing an Above-ground pool against an in-ground one.

Tips for the photo

Take the photo in daylight from the back door, a terrace or an upstairs window, so the whole area where a pool could go is in view. Hold the phone level and include the edges of the yard, such as the fence, a hedge or the wall of the house: they show how much space there is. Move hoses, toys and loose chairs out of the way. A photo of one corner of the lawn leaves the pool little room.

What it does not do

It shows an idea as a picture. It does not measure your yard, check the ground or local rules, estimate costs or plan the build. It keeps the house, fences and camera angle of your photo, and places the pool where it seems to fit at a realistic size, which may not be the spot you had in mind. The lawn, paths and plants around the pool may change, and the result is always shown in daylight.

Is pool design free in Renova?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 designs a day, and its designs carry a watermark. Pro raises the limit to 50 designs a day.

Which pool styles can I try?

There are 12 pool styles: Modern, Infinity, Natural, Tropical, Mediterranean, Plunge pool, Lap pool, Sun shelf, Above-ground, With spa, Dark finish and Classic Roman. You can try several on the same photo, one design each.

Does it work for a small or sloping yard?

Yes. It sizes the pool to the space in your photo, and the Plunge pool style is made for small yards. On a slope with a view, try Infinity.

Will it change my house?

No. It keeps the house, fences and camera angle of your photo, and adds the pool with decking, planting and outdoor furniture around it.
